Nikki’s Townhouse

3:15 pm

Nikki had been at the office most of the day and had just returned home. Simon had sent the confession and information from his interview with Marco Bondar. Based on the confession of he and the trio, a federal judge authorized a warrant for every Petrov home and financial holding they have. The field boss was very thorough and by the time Nikki left the office, Petrov was in custody as were over 30 of his team. They found enough evidence to lock up the entire family and throw away the key. In addition, they had several of the family’s overseas associates and Interpol was moving on them at the same time. With the testimony of Bondar’s wife, it was a slam dunk. There was a lot of smiling and back slapping by the time she made her way out of the office, exhausted from this case and worrying about Simon, which she should know better. Obviously, he can take care of himself but still. This love thing is taking some getting used to. Is it supposed to feel like someone is ripping your stomach out of your nose when you are not with them? She was able to speak with Simon briefly last night so that helped. He was pretty upset that he couldn’t take care of Petrov himself but Nikki was able to talk him down. Their team needed the arrest and it would buy some leverage for them within the Bureau so he relented in the end. Nikki might have had to make some frisky promises to ensure his compliance, but a lady never tells.

With that thought in mind, she hit reply to his email to let him know about all of the arrests. She was also ready to have him back home and she wanted to know when that was going to happen. She knew he had unfinished business with Romeo and Juliet, she shook her head at those names, but she wanted him to hurry up. She knew he wouldn’t leave until those children were in a safe place and that just made her aching heart throb a little more.

After sending the email, she grabbed her range bag and a couple of boxes of shells to go blow off some steam, and some lead. Was this Simon’s influence….
